Michelle Pfeiffer absolutely owns her role as the loving, emotionally driven, and strong-headed Stacy Clyburn in The Madison. Bringing such raw emotion to the character, we cannot help but fall in love with Stacy Clyburn. Let’s look at this matriarch.
A devoted wife
Preston and Stacy shared an incredible marriage, one that fairytales are made of. “You know, in 39 years of marriage, we never fought, not once. We danced right to the edge may times – but we both knew how precious and rare what we had was.” These were Stacy's touching words to her daughter, remembering her late husband, Preston. Despite being a big city girl, the Madison River valley has crept into her heart so much that she vows to stay to be close to Preston’s spirit and keep his memory alive.
“How can I say goodbye when there’s so much more to know?”
A wise mother who stands her ground
Stacy does not always see eye to eye with her two daughters, Abigail and Paige. They often have fiery arguments due to opposing opinions. Mama Clyburn is no longer afraid to call out her daughters when they’re wrong and show them tough love. But despite conflicting attitudes, she’s always by their side when they need her the most, offering sound advice. “I hope you meet a man that’s worth missing,” she tells Abigail, hoping that her daughter eventually finds a true love story like she did.
A grandma who is learning
Stacy loves her two granddaughters, Bridgette and Macy, and tries her best to be there for them, but it’s not always easy to get it right. She sees younger versions of both Abigail and Paige in her two grandkids and hopes not to make the same mistakes with them that she made with her own daughters. But one thing’s for sure, she hopes that her granddaughters will keep memories close to their hearts like she does.
“Memories are like a movie that we can play over and over.”
A strong and courageous woman
Stacy is a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, but apart from these diverse roles, she’s also one strong woman. Everything she does has heart and she feels every emotion deep to the core. Known for her sharp tongue, her words are nevertheless poetic and meaningful, and she never shies away from pouring her soul out. Wounded but not defeated, Stacy is on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Who knows what else the future holds for this incredible woman, but we’ll be right here to see it all unfold in The Madison.
