March brings with it the cosy vibes of autumn 🍂 the perfect season to curl up on the couch and indulge in a good story. The Madison promises exactly that. Centred around the Clyburn family, the story follows their move from city to countryside where they try to forge a new life and new connections. If that doesn’t hook you, here are a few more reasons that are sure to grab you. Look out for the two-episode premiere, coming Express from the US to M-Net channel 101 on Monday 16 March from 21:00.
The cast
The Madison is headlined by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell. Scarface, Batman Returns, Dangerous Minds, The Witches of Eastwick, Dangerous Liaisons, and Murder on the Orient Express are just some of the fabulous films that mark Pfeiffer’s remarkable career. Russell, similarly, has had a distinguished career, highlighted by many an action film, as well as his memorable collaborations with director John Carpenter. The two actors have even starred together before, in 1988’s Tequila Sunrise. 🍹
They are joined by Matthew Fox of Lost fame (and ‘90s kids will surely remember him from Party of Five). There’s also Patrick J Adams from Suits, and Arrested Development’s Will Arnett appears too.
Pfeiffer and Russell’s characters have two daughters, played by Elle Chapman and Beau Garrett; and two granddaughters, played by Amiah Miller and Alaina Pollack.
It's created by Taylor Sheridan
Maybe you’ve come across Sheridan’s work as an actor. Maybe as a writer. But come across it, you surely have. His career has been rapidly rising in recent years, especially as a writer. He’s become particularly established as this century’s Western storytelling go-to guy. On television we’ve seen him co-create Yellowstone and Landman. This April, we’ll get to see more with Yellowstone spin-off Marshals. While Sheridan did not create the show, he remains on board as an executive producer. On film, he’s had incredible success with Hell or High Water and the Sicario films, with Hell or High Water landing him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. For The Madison, he’s written all six episodes. 🖋️
You’re a Yellowstone fan
If you’re a Sheridan fan, there’s a good chance you’re a Yellowstone fan. If Yellowstone was your first foray into the Taylorverse, and you want to explore more, The Madison is a perfect opportunity. Luckily, there’s so much more to enjoy if you love Sheridan, Tulsa King is another series the writer has created and penned. The third season is currently airing on Tuesdays at 21:00 on M-Net. 🤠
The setting
Although not a spin-off of Yellowstone, The Madison is also set in Montana, in the Madison River valley. Expect flowing water, soft, golden-green light, bruised blue mountains, and panoramas of space. If you’re more city slicker than country mouse, you’ll soon be converted – but you will get to indulge in some vibrant Manhattan-set scenes too. 🏞️ 🌃
